My name is Brian Romacho. I grew up in Brooklyn, NY and have been drawing ever since the age of 4 or 5. My first subjects were Santa Claus, Superman and Kiss (I was fascinated with the makeup). I would draw them over and over again. My parents were very supportive of my hobby, after all it kept me quiet. My grandfather who worked at a paper bag factory used to bring me home stacks of card stock to draw on or to construct things with.
Over the years, I got better and better through drawing many different things from cartoon characters and wrestlers to every day objects. I never really had any formal art training until I went to School of Visual Arts and Pratt Institute. During my time in school, I was able to experiment with some more drawing mediums like pastels, crayons and charcoal as well as learn about different shading techniques.
There is this amazing rush when you see the likeness start to show. Also when someone looks at it and can't believe that what you created is not a photo but in fact a drawing. Aside from making something special for my clients, that is what I strive for with each and every portrait that I draw.
